Faced with a similar problem recently, I found a shareware FTP
server to run on a Win 9x/NT box, which has a trigger mechanism; it
listens for the arrival of a specified file, then runs a command,
which can be a .BAT file. In my case, a scheduled job on the HP3000
produces a file, FTPs it to a NT workstation where a batch file
creates a Powerplay cube, copies that to another server, then emails
a user to say that a new version is available.
On the other hand, W.Wolters remote shell sounds like a good idea;
I'll give it a go when I get a few minutes.
