Anyone who pays $150 for DLT-IV cartridges (20GB) has money to burn!
They're easily obtainable in the $85+/- range -- maybe even for less.
DLT-III cartridges (10GB) are even better.

Subject: DDS-3 vs. DLT? Reliability?

I'm surprised that nobody mentions media cost when comparing DDS vs. DLT
and various versions of DDS.
DDS-1 tapes can be had for in the $5 range, with DDS-2 being a bit more
expensive, while DDS-3 tapes seem to be quite expensive and DLT
tapes seem to be $150 (or in that vicinity anyway). I would think the
cost of DLT media would limit their application somewhat, but since
all systems with DLTs probably also have at least one DDS drive as
well maybe it's not a big deal.
