Talk about in memory tables.  Do you remember the IBM 1620?  It's code
name
was the:
C  Can't
A  Add
D  Doesn't
E  Even
T  Try

It had an internal add table.  In effect the system added two decimal
digits by
accessing a table.  I forget the details, but you sure got weird results
if
you messed (either intentionally or unintentionally) with the table.
