Any volunteers to help me test/verify which of the archive tools listed below
can do the following:

1) archive bytestream, fixed ASCII, KSAM, Image DB, files on one MPE system,
and unarchive them to the same (pre-existing) group/account on another MPE
system.

2) unarchive the above to a different (pre-existing) group/account on another
MPE system.

3) create the same group/accounts on the target system that were on the
source system (note whether capabilities, access right, passwords, etc. are
preserved).

4) produce an archive that can be extracted on Unix, PC, or Mac.

5) is the archive still intact if you upload it to the HP 3000 with the
"wrong" record size, file code, etc.; i.e. you simply use the Reflection or
ftp default attributes (but you DO need to use BINARY mode transfers) (LZW
handles this).

Choose one of these tools, report your results (include what version of the
tool you were using and the command line you used, PLEASE), and I'll
summarize them on our web site and to HP3000-L:

GNU gzip
LZW
MOVER (specify version number and EOF)
PKZIP/iX
POSIX tar/compress
TurboSTORE store-to-disc
Quark+ from Quest Software
