We have a similar set up and it works fine. We use Quest's NBSPOOL to send
the spool files from the 3k to the Xerox. I don't see why another LPR
package wouldn't work since it already works OK to an NT server.

we do our printing from the HP 3000 via ESPUL which uses the
LPR
protocol. we send our file to a NT server which handles all

small stuff with the printer and alert messages to printer
operator.
