Why worry about it. Just do the RESET, it's as good a test as any. If
you don't like the message just do
:RESET LIST > $NULL
If you really want to check for the file equations you could :LISTEQ >
FILE and parse the file looking for the file equation that you're
checking on, but to me this seem more work that it's worth.
