Attachments arriving via email with a .DOT file extension are almost
*always* virus infected Microsoft Word documents.  Everyone *did*
check the file for viruses before opening it didn't they? :-)

In this case there seems to be nothing wrong with the file, though
most macro virus infections have the side effect of causing Word to
insist on saving all documents with .DOT extensions rather than the
usual .DOC extension.

There's at least one Word macro virus now that silently posts documents
you edit with Word to a Usenet newsgroup.
