Please allow me to put on my Glen Cole cap for a moment (hope you don't
mind, Glen) and report to you of a very recent development here that will
interest many of you.

Many of you know and respect Brian Duncombe for his many contributions to
HP3000 community, as both contributor to the list and administrator of the
HP3000 vendor list at 3K Associates.

What you may not know is the story of Brian's long and courageous legal
struggle against a much larger and formidable foe.

I am happy to say that on Friday, July 17, 1998, Brian won a clear and
decisive victory against Carolian/Delrina/Symantec in the Ontario court of
Justice Dennis O'Leary - and was awarded substantial damages, interest and
legal fees.

This case, which began more than 10 years ago in 1987, would have drained
and demoralized most of us.

Despite the overwhelming obstacle of a court injuction which seriously
impacted Brian's ability to earn an income, Brian never let his legal and
financial burdens interfere with his positive interaction with his friends
and colleagues.

Please join me in congratulating Brian in his hard-fought and well-deserved
victory - which is a just victory that really symbolizes one man's struggle
against almost overwhelming hurdles.
