If you have MPEX you can to a PRINTOPREPLY.  Here's an example from the
manual:

%SETVAR FNAME PRINTOPREPLY('Which file should we output to?')
%IF FEXISTS(FNAME) THEN
%  IF PRINTOPREPLY('OK to purge file '+FNAME+'?')='Y' THEN

%  ENDIF
%ENDIF
%FILE MYOUTFIL=!FNAME,NEW;SAVE
%EXIT
