Chen,

All to familiar.  We used to have a guy here who was an expert
at generating this message.  I don't know if you have the same
problem but this is what this guy would do......again, and again
and again:

      PERFORM SOMETHING THRU SOMETHING-EXIT.
                      .
                      .
                      .

  SOMETHING.

           BLAH
           BLAH
            GO TO SOMEWHERE-ELSE.
           BLAH
           BLAH
  SOMETHING-EXIT.


  SOMEWHERE-ELSE.
        BLAH
        BLAH

In other words:  Them GO TO things have to live within the
boundry of the PERFORM.  The interesting part was that
his programs did not always crash first time out.  They would
sort of lurk around until 2:00 am 2 months later, then crash.
I really enjoyed coming in at 2:00 am to fix that stuff.  I
really enjoyed it more when he quit and moved on.
