Actually - a K8 can be used for an SQL "Date" within Image/SQL (for those of
us who really want a real DATE datatype, that's universally accepted over
other DBMS' which we might need to interact alongside Image)... Query will
choke on it, of course, but if you really want a "real" DATE:
- Define a K8 in a dataset
- In IMAGESQL.PUB.SYS, do an UPDATE TYPE changing the datatype to "DATETIME"
Voila! Ever INSERT/UPDATE will generate a date value, and a SELECT will
yield a date with no byte manipulation and type casting whatsoever.
(Consider this a preview for the "ODBC Gotchas" session at HP World! Of
course, other things will be covered too :)
