We have two user volumes on our 959:  USER and BACKUP.
We try and keep the <long_name> reasonably HP-pure (not
quite at 100 percent, but it's close).  That way if we blow up
one of the four 2 GB drives in the <long_name>, we can pull
out the bad drive and do a very quick INSTALL from the SLT
we keep handy with everything on the
MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET (there, I brought myself to
type it all out just once....).  I had to do that once some time
ago.  Could also have used the DISKCOPY utility, but from what
I've heard about the DISKCOPY thing (don't think I've used it since
the Classic days), an INSTALL with an HP-only <long_name> is
much faster;  providing it's mostly HP stuff....

I still wonder who the HP engineer was, who came up with that
!@#$%^&*  23-character designation for the <long_name>.....
