Not having the product number and version makes is more difficult to answer
questions such as yours.  Assuming you are NOT using FORTRAN (66) and are
using FORTRAN 77/iX (Native Mode vs Compapatibility Mode), you are probably
running into a known problem involving OPTIMIZATION.  Reduce the optimization
to level zero.  It is also possible the specific problem you are seeing
has been fixed in the latest releases on MPE (Assuming this is an MPE system)
otherwise it could HPUX kernel parameter sizes.
