ok - i sorta kinda did that.  but is there something else
i'm missing?  i didn't have /dev/null set up but having
done the mknod (/dev/null c 3 1) it doesn't look like
a character node ala unix.  is this a problem?  running the
'lars' script eventually results in a 'no pipes' error.  is this
yet another configuration issue?             - d
