Please check into DISCUTIL from the ISL prompt.
I just went thru this (scan HP3000-L within last month).
It reads the directory on each ldev, saving the files.
If it gets an error in reading the directory, however, it terminates.

I lost ldev 1. Using this, I saved all of ldev 2, most of ldev 1.
The recovery is done with VOLUTIL: recover command.

Maybe there are other tools as well. Don't know.
