Maybe with scsi tools under sysdiag, but that would be rawdata copying.
This is not supported by HP if you do it yourself.

If it fails you have to do a reload anyway.

P.S. Using private volumes might save you some restore time, if you get
disk problems like you describe but to build them you'll need a system
reload.
