I believe all required networking components are shipped as standard with
FOS as of MPE 5.0 and above.

Once you have upgraded to 5.5, simply configure your network details within
NMMGR, stream JCONFJOB.NET.SYS then fire it all up using:

NETCONTROL START;NET=LOOP
NETCONTROL START;NET=your_lan_name
NSCONTROL START
