     I installed a HP UPS (built by APS I believe) about a year ago on a
957 that I ran back then.... The UPS came with software for HP-UX that
allowed the 9k to talk to the UPS and do things like execute scripts....

     I was told when I asked about the 3k version of the software that
there was no such creature and that the 3k couldn't even hook to the UPS...
but the UPS did keep the 3k's power up when I lost power in the computer
center for about 5 minutes :)  I didn't even get paged concerning the power
outage!  'course about 30 out of 45 users paged me about their PC's
crashing hehehehe :)

I too am interested in whether it's possible to execute a script prior to
the UPS running out of battery power, say after some (user defined) period
of operating on the UPS without power, a graceful shutdown script gets
executed, much like the SYSSTART.PUB.SYS gets executed on startup.  That
way applications can be gracefully closed.  We're upgrading from 957 to
969 and I've HEARD from an HP CE working with us that this is possible,
but somehow felt the answer was a little 'soft', ie sounded reasonable,
but not real sure the hardware/software support was really there.  Does
anyone know FOR SURE if this is possible?  Thanks.
