Please forgive the ignorance, I'm an administrator by profession and
only program when I have to. One of our programmers just brought this
to me:
She has a COBOL program which compiles correctly when the first line
reads
$CONTROL USLINIT,POST85
But when she changes it to read
$CONTROL USLINIT,POST85,SYMDEBUG
she gets the following error:
:COB85XL SPNDISS,*COMPOBJ,*COMPLST
PAGE 0001 COBOL II/iX HP31500A.04.16 [85] Copyright Hewlett-Packard CO. 1987
LINE # SEQ # COL ERROR SEV TEXT
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10553 Bk-end 80 384 Q Codegen detected error (7004) Debug information
may be corrupt: 1 unresolvable reference (7004).
0 ERROR(s), 1 QUESTIONABLE, 0 WARNING(s)
DATA AREA IS 66A4 BYTES.
CPU TIME = 0:00:21. WALL TIME = 0:00:28.
END OF PROGRAM
END OF COMPILE
:
Any info will certainly be most appreciated. TIA!
Patrick, who hasn't touched a compiler for at least 9 months
(and is feeling it!)
