Bob,

I had the same worries after installing a 3.0 KVA PowerTrust unit in
our 957 box, and what I ended up doing was this:
   1) Since our 957 didn't have a special UPS port with the SPU, I
hooked the UPS into a DTC 16iX mounted above the UPS and, of
      course, protected by the UPS.
   2) The DTC port that the UPS is hooked into had to be configured
with a profile name of UP10D12, which wasn't configured either.
   3) So I created a profile that looks like this:

NMMGR/3000 (B.06.00) #23 Terminal Profile
Data: Y
Fill in the required information; then press the Save Data key.

Command:

PATH: DTS.PROFILE.UP10D12

Terminal type [10] (10, 18, or 24)
or terminal type file name [ ]
Line speed [1200 ] (300, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, or 38400 bps)
Record width [80 ] (1... 2048 bytes)
Modem type [0] (0 - none, 1 - US, 2 - EU, 3 - Five wires,
                             4 - US inout, 5 - EU inout)
Modem behavior [0] (0 - none, 1 - DCE, 2 - DTE, 3 - DCE high)
Data length/Parity [NONE] (None, Odd, Even, 0's, 1's, 8eve, 8odd)
Speed/Parity Sensing? [N] (Y/N) Allow :HELLO logon? [Y] (Y,N)
Reset HP terminal? [N] (Y/N) NLIO device? [N] (Y,N)
Hardware handshaking [N] (Y/N)

If configuring device classes, enter names below. If additional names are
required, press Go To CLASSES, otherwise press Prior Screen.

   Device class [HPUPSDEV] [ ] [ ] [ ]
      names [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]

File: NMCONFIG.PUB.SYS

After doing this, I was told by HP that our 957 would shut itself down
gracefully. I can't actually confirm this ... yet! ;-)
Something else you may want to consider is a small (dumb) UPS for the
console.

Hope this helps!

                 Chris
