I have only a vague idea of what "static meta-data" might mean, but the
"from hell" programmers might at least have given Gavin a chance
 to choose from where he wanted to boot from.

Further, the problem is that these same programmers are arrogant
enough to think that they know it all.  They're very smart but the
QC people at MS are asleep at the switch and let half-baked
enhancements out the door.  GUI's are nice if kept straight
forward but Windows can screw you if you are not more than
careful.  Caveat Emptor!
