Neil -

Your joking right?

I don't mean to be taking shots at AICS here but if you are serious how can
you recommend QCTERM when .4 ALPHA won't even make Telnet connections?
QCTerm .4 Alpha does not script, does not have file transfer, does not do
NS/VT, does not handle 132 worth a darn, does not support append forms, does
not handle em220, does not work with Smith Gardner MACS package, does not
run on Macintosh, does not run on Dos, does not support Java, does not allow
for any keyboard remapping (Block mode ENTER is not the ENTER key) does not
support passthrough printing on NT or Windows 95! Neil I don't mean to
rant but how can you call this "full-featured"?

It's great that AICS feels the need to give back to the HP community but
lets get serious for a moment. It's free that's good right? Well
maybe..... MiniSoft 92 installed in over 6,000 HP3000 sites sells for as
little as $59.00/copy (educational/non-profit pricing) or $79.00/copy (for
the rest of us) over here in the U.S. and we feature a toll-free 800 number
for support (works from anywhere in the world) included with the license.
One or two support calls to AICS long distance (assuming you can get a hold
of them) and you have burned up the savings, especially from South Africa.
Frankly with the state of this ALPHA .4 product you will be making a quite a
few tech calls! Most MiniSoft users cannot afford to be down or to help in
the development of a new communications package. Most have very demanding
professional assignments requiring there full attention.

I am sure AICS will eventually achieve some level of functionally and
reliability. They seem to feel very strongly that the HP market is crying
out for still another HP terminal emulator. But the day they are ready for
prime time has not arrived yet. For now MiniSoft 92 is the least expensive
full-featured HP/DEC terminal emulation package available.

Sincerely,

Doug Greenup
