FEATURED SPEAKERS
Orly Larson, Program Manager, Hewlett-Packard
Title: Building the Electronic Business
This presentation will address what lies ahead for HP users as the Information Technology
industry evolves toward an era of pervasive computing. Intranets, extranets and the
internet are creating an extended enterprise-computing environment in which everything
and everyone is connected. During this session, Orly will discuss the implications of the
"extended enterprise" for HP users and how HP is helping its customers capitalize on this
trend. HP's strategic intent is to rapidly enable E-Business processes on the extended
enterprise infrastructure. E-Business is broader than E-Commerce and is about using the
Net to enhance current processes and create entirely new processes to strengthen the
performance of your business. He will also outline the technologies and strategic
alliances HP has pursued to "keep a step ahead" in delivering products and services that
maximize customer satisfaction and enterprise performance.
About Orly...
Orly Larson is currently a Marketing Program Manager for HP's Computer Organization in
Cupertino, California and serves as the HP/Interex Relationship Manager and the HP Liaison
to the Interex Board of Directors. He has presented seminars worldwide on HP's information
management and application development technologies. He has contributed numerous articles
on information technologies to various computer trade magazines and newspapers, and serves
as a spokesperson for HP's strategic and technology directions. Orly has been with HP
since 1972.

server computing is with explanations of MultiWin and ICA and two key technologies that
make up WinFrame. He will include case studies to help further explain how WinFrame can
help in a variety of network infrastructures. He will end the presentation with an
explanation of where Citrix is moving into for the future with a detailed talk on the
Microsoft/Citrix agreement. There will be a short dial-up demo at end.

Member of Year 2000 Team
Title: Are you Year 2000 Ready?
The typical response to this question is, "I think I'm ready, but how can I be sure?"
This presentation is designed to give HP systems users practical suggestions on how to
tell if you are truly ready for the Year 2000. Discussions will include information on
what tools are available and what actions some of the more common application vendors
are taking to assure compliance. Testing considerations will also be outlined. HP
users are encouraged to look beyond their own in-house HP systems to suppliers and
vendors they do business with and develop a plan to minimize difficulties caused by
external compliance issues.

Alvino Nishimoto, R&D Internet Program Mgr., HP
Title: HP 3000 and NT Interoperability
With the current explosion of NT in business environments, there has been a lot of
interest in how the HP 3000 will interoperate with NT. MPE/ix is not standing still
amidst the changing computing arena, but is continuing to provide interoperability
and data exchange with other operating systems, including NT and UNIX systems. This
presentation will outline various methods to achieve interoperability between your
HP 3000 and NT. Some of these topics include: File and print sharing -- Samba,
MPE Command Center; System Management Tools; Current Trends in Application Development;
"Facelift" Phase; GUI front ends; "Migration" Phase; Database Interoperability - ODBC

Title: MPE Track
Did you ever wish that you could manage your entire HP 3000 systems from one console
using state-of-the art drag and drop technology? Well, now you can. All the power of
enterprise management has been recently placed at the control of the MPE Systems Manager.
Through the MPE Command Center, the operator or systems manager has the entire HP 3000
enterprise at his disposal. Select a particular server and examine the current
environment. Move files from one account to another, check on the status of running
jobs, check the performance of the system, edit the output written to the spoolers,
activate various standard systems functions, and do it all in a graphic user interface.
Did you ever wish you could set system thresholds, where the system could notify you whenever these thresholds have been exceeded? We call that Event Management. Event Management has been available for several years in the UNIX and NT environments. Through the MPE Command Center it is available to the MPE user as well. This session addresses the capabilities and benefits that the MPE Command Center can bring to your environment.

who must deal with multiple operating systems, architectures and frameworks such as
Open View and Netview, as well as applications with embedded schedulers.
Issues examined include: the impact of enterprise-wide scheduling in a data center,
pros and cons of scheduler integration approaches, point scheduling solutions vs.
one-stop shopping, scheduling for networked, distributed architectures, implementation
considerations for an enterprise-wide scheduler, and how to achieve a smooth migration
to an enterprise scheduling environment. Real-world case studies will form the basis
of an overview of successful approaches to enterprise scheduling challenges and
practical "how-to" guidelines on key considerations in the scheduler evaluation process.
