We are trying to configure a serial disc on a classic 3000 (Series 70). The following two problems have been encountered:
1) When using a C2203A (aka Coyote - 670 MB) as the serial disc, MPE will allow it to be configured into the I/O system through SYSDUMP. However, with VINIT, the format command succeeds, but the serial command fails with the message:
SUBTYPE INCONSISTENCY BETWEEN DEVICES SPECIFIED - PVERR 108
*** FUNCTION ABORTED ***
If the C2203A is configured in as either a 7925 or 7933 device, MPE accepts it and VINIT will appear to perform the serial command. ("Appear" may be the operative word here.) The label on the drive is SERDISC0 and a DSTAT reveals it to be serial, but a 7925 or 7933.
How does one get MPE to correctly recognize the drive as a serial drive, either as a C2203 or another drive?
2) (When configured in to MPE as a 7925 or 7933) After issuing the FILE command (the serial disc is ldev 4):
FILE s0;dev=4
and then isuuing the STORE command:
STORE @[log in to unmask];*S0;SHOW
the following error message occurs:
FOPTIONS ON TAPE WRONG - SHOULD BE NOCCTL,UNDEFINED RECORD
FORMAT, BINARY,NEW, NOCCTL
What should be changed to make this work?
Thanks in advance,
Larry Kelly
