One of the uses for "HourGlass 2000 for the HP 3000" is to permit you to run
no-longer-supported third-party applications that will expire in 1999.

Because we don't use AIF:PE, the overhead of intercepting all date/time calls
is almost immeasurably low. After 2000 arrives you can use HourGlass
system-wide, so that FlexiBase will get a date earlier than it's expiration
date, and the rest of your applications will get the actual system date.

With HourGlass, you can test year-2000 compliance now, and continue to run
your "expired" applications after the year 2000 arrives.
