We conducted a major search of Fax software for not only the HP3000 but also
for other platforms. Fax/3000 was easily the best choice for the HP3000 and
provided us the future capibility to attach other systems like HPUX to it. I
have one client with a single line system that faxes 150+ per night. My
current project, we will be faxing 1000+ per night from 12 outbound lines.

If you really understood how the product was designed and how you would want
the product designed, then attaching it to the HP3000 CPU in some manner just
does not make sense. In our search, we never saw a single solution that
approached the solution in that manner. The actual faxing is always offloaded
to a dedicated fax server.

So if you need to replace a PC every five years with a newer one, then I would
think that you would be happy and not so critical.
