Yes Donna, there was a major problem with an upgrade to FTP (FTPEDR3) on
5.5 EXPRESS-3 back in November. I'm going to paste in the 12/97 HP3000-L
dialog that describes the problem. Note that Mark Bixby (W3716091)
actually found the problem before I did. I reported the problem to the
HPRC (A4947511) and have gotten great help from Charles Chang. He had the
lab mail me a patch (FTPFD06A) on 2/23/98 - I hope to get it installed this
week and test it. I'm still on Express-3, minus the "@[log in to unmask]" files
that were the culprit. If you've upgraded to EXP-3 and you want to get
back to the old (working) FTP, you must restore the 7 files in
@[log in to unmask] to their pre-Exp3 (Mpe 5.5) state. Since the Patch Charles
sent me is a "Beta", I'm sure the problem still exists in P.Patch4, as it
seems you have confirmed.

Anyway, here's the paste from early 12/97 describing the problem:

Hi Charles, *12/8/97*
As you requested, this is detail info. about the problem we're
having with the Mpe/iX 5.5 EXPRESS-3 FTP "GET" command.
This processed was working fine under MPE/ix 5.0. I upgraded
to 5.5 Express-3 using Patch/iX on 11/27, all in one day.

C. HP3000 Environment
===================
HP937rx 96MB - Susan# 1440176281 Handle: KPS1
MPE/iX 5.5 Express-3, including patch FTPEDR3.

D. WIN/NT Server Configuration
========================
TCP/IP Ethernet LAN
Clients: Windows/95
Servers:
a. KPSERVER1 ip=192.192.192.16 Primary domain Controller
b. KPSERVER2 ip=192.192.192.17 Runs Payroll Time-Card Applic.
Both are Dell Pentium-Pro's running Win/NT version 4.0 Service-Pack 1.
KPSERVER1 is the "FTP" server, running as service under IIS ver 3.0.
Note that we use an ALIAS (using IIS Administrator) on our "kpserver1",
our Primary Domain Controller, to point (via 'cd' command) to a folder on
"kpserver2" where the payroll file resides in "kpserver2\\ATS-HP Files\a
ts2hp".
Ie, the Win/NT FTP Server runs under IIS on kpserver1, and it points to the
file to "GET" on kpserver2 via an "ALIAS". Curiously, the GET WILL WORK
if you do not use an alias (ie, if the from file is in the root dir. of
Kpserver1).
Thanks again for your help, Charles. I hope today to get our HP3000
reverted back to vanilla 5.5, before the Exp3 patch "FTPEDR3". *12/7/98*
