We do use a PC fax server. The software acts just like a printer to the
other systems in the network(PC, Unix and HP 3000) it management is
separate, sometimes good and sometimes bad. Since the software is PC
based it is less cost to purchase.

It's not as easy as it sounds. I did this years ago for a
specific project
(using MPEV), and at the time someone suggested that I produce a
program
for general use. Since FAX/3000 was around, I didn't feel like
re-inventing the wheel. However, I had no idea that they were
using a PC
        server.

Would anyone be interested in paying for a product that faxed
out from the
HP3000 without an intervening server? I presume that this would
be text
only (where would the graphics files come from?). How should it
work?
What functions should be included? (this can get quite complex,
especially
if you have several FAX modems connected and you want to FAX at
inexpensive
hours, etc.) Incidentally, pricing would be on a
number-of-ports basis (I
hate tier pricing based on machine size).
