      >Has anyone written any command files for replying to From/Tape
     requests?

Why, yes I have. Laziness breeds creativity :)
In my last job, I would load a tape, Run the backup job, run this
command file (I'm typing it from memory), then leave for dinner.

     PAUSE 10
     REPLY 50,7
     CONTINUE
     REPLY 51,7
     CONTINUE
     REPLY 52,7
     CONTINUE
     etc...up to REPLY 150,7?

7 would be the # of your tape drive.
I don't remember what the range of possible pin #'s was, but it
would always fall into this range. The invalid replys would be
ignored until the system got the one it was looking for.
