We use a Panasonic KX-P1180 connected to the parallel port of the 700/96
console terminal for occasional console logging -- we don't have it on
constantly. It's a good, inexpensive solution. One note, though: we
found that the interface caused an extra line feed for every cr/lf in the
input source. Disabling pin 14 on the Centronix printer connector on the
cable cured that problem. The printer's advertised method of disabling
this signal (AUTO FEED XT) via a DIP switch setting did not work, so we
just taped over the connector pin to disable it.

Can anybody think of an alternative for a "console printer", slaved to
the console terminal?
