I called the Response Center a week-and-a-half ago regarding Express 4
vs. PP4. I was told that the Express 4 Subsys was necessary to ensure
that all of the Year 2000 enhancements are properly installed.
Apparently, certain subsystem products have been modified for the Year
2000. To ensure a successful update, both the Express 4 Subsys and the
PowerPatch 4 tape are necessary.

We had exactly the same questions a few weeks ago. The HP
Response
Center told me, that we had to apply both releases. There's a
little
shortcut, though. You can apply Express Release 3 without the
patches
i.e. only the subsys tape. Afterwards you apply PP4. That's what
HP RC
told us and it worked fine.
