I've also posted this to the listserv manman at interex.

Has anyone gone directy from 9.7 to 11? I'm currently on an HP939ks
running C.50.03, manman 9.7 (implemented 9/96 from 7.0) and I need to
be y2k compliant by 9/1/98 (this year). I called CA and my options
were:

1. Go to 11 (free under my support agreement with CA, so I ordered tape)
or
2. Purchase their 9.7 Year 2000 Pack for $66,500 (I don't think so!)

I know that I have to go 9.7 -->10 -->11. I'd like to do this over
a weekend. I understand that the applications will change and that
some user re-training will be required. But my real questions are:

1. Has anyone done this (9.7 --> 11) yet, and if so, how did the
conversions/upgrades go?

2. Any special caveats or 'bewares' I should know about?

3. How major are the user applications changes? Will they need
immediate training or can they 'learn as they go' type of thing?

4. Under my original agreement with CA, I have 36 days of consulting
remaining with CA - would anyone recommend that I have them in to
do the upgrade?

5. How is 11 running - is it buggy, or is it sound? (In other words,
am I in for the 'time of my life' when I do this upgrade?)

6. Is there a Cognos Quiz Dictionary schema provided in 11? I didn't
see it on my order form.

Any input would be appreciated!
