Hi Jim!

I have used non-HP memory before with out problem. Or at least, when there
was one it went back to the vendor. The biggest problem is that most 3rd
party vendors support 24 hour turn around on replacements. If you can afford
to be without the added memory for that long, then you are OK.

The diagnostics on memory are usually pretty good. My experience with it was
it pin-pointed that the problem was memory, so I pulled it out and ran
without until OI could get the replacements (slowed the machine down).

Hope this helps!

Well, I find myself wanting to add memory to our 918. I've gotten

several quotes from HP remarketers and I have found that the non-HP

memory is a lot cheaper than the HP stuff (no big surprise, right?).

But, what is HP's stance on non-HP memory in their machines? I am

assuming that they don't like it for obvious reasons, but has anyone

ever had HP refuse to service a machine with non-HP memory? IOW,

am I vulnerable if I use non-HP memory? In the sense of having

HP blame the memory if I have any kind of problem.

Thanks in advance.
