I find this extremely interesting (in a morbid sort of way, like
when you see an accident on the highway and just *have* to look).
Here I have a brand-new, configured-by-HP-channel-partner 918 that
will only support seven SE SCSI devices (plus the controller);
there are five devices already in use (three existing disk drives,
one tape drive, and one CD-ROM drive); and I have seven vacant
slots in the HASS enclosure. Now, what exactly does HP want me
to do when it comes time to add the third drive in the HASS?
That would exceed the seven devices on this buss! Do I have
to add another controller? Why would HP configure a system
this way? (that is, configured so that I can't use all the
available slots in the HASS without adding another controller)
For that matter, how am I supposed to use all eight drives in
the HASS enclosure if only seven devices are supported? I mean,
I could have a controller dedicated to the HASS and still not
be able to have eight drives!?!
Am I missing something here?
