I've had only one problem with Samba "missing" data...
if the file is on the 3000 and is *NOT* a byte-stream file,
and if a PC application says "hi, how big is the file",
it gets the wrong answer.  If the PC application then
reads that number of bytes (instead of reading until EOF),
it may not get the entire file.  I first noticed this
when running "CSE 3310 HTML Validator v2.50" (yes,
they sure flunked the "how to name a product" class!)
