AFAIK, yes. But I haven't used Extra Data Segments since I switched to
MPE/iX. Under MPE V if you had a really big data stack DS was the only
way to exceed 32767 bytes (in COBOL) of data storage. Under MPE/iX,
there is no such restriction. Of course, DS will work under MPE/iX,
but IIRC it's not recommended (some sort of performance hit using
the intrinsics - probably CM-NM switching). But there are mapped
files (not accessible directly from COBOL) which are basically
DS in a new guise.
This is all from memory, so I could be wrong. :-)
