Thanks everyone for straightening me out on the back slash.
Seems like I'm the only one in the world thought you had to use a back slash on a PC when adding a link to an html page.
It seems like SAMBA will make my life a lot easier too, when it comes to transferring the files to the 3000. I have an identical (enough) directory structure on each to make that fairly painless. I haven't got Samba installed yet, but I've been following all Samba threads - just in case.
Now, I have another dumb question.
I have APACHE working on the HP3000; my goal is a company intranet, but have a problem accessing the index page.
If I enter http://full.domain.name I get an error "the server does not have a DNS entry" (we do *not* have a DNS server, so that makes sense, I guess)
if I enter http://nodename eventually the page will load (about 2 minutes) and everything is fine after that.
if I use the http://ipaddress it's great, almost immediately loads and everything works just fine. This is fine for testing - but when I get other folks accessing this, it won't seem quite right.
Has anyone else had this problem? Do I need a DNS? Or what is the answer? Our network is 2 HP3000s(937) and 6 Win95 PCs, expecting to add many more Win3.1 & Win95 PCs.
