Anybody got any ideas on how to find the "real" group & account of a file
that has been file equated?

For example. all our programs refer to the filename IFDS01.DB which is file
equated to whichever database we need at any point in time. We also need to
get at another file which sits in the same group and account, so we need to
find out the group and account IFDS01.DB has been equated to. This would be
easy if IFDS01.DB was not a database, you could just HPFOPEN the file and
do FINFO on it... but unfortunately IFDS01.DB is a database and therefore a
PRIV file!

Any suggestions?

PS. We already have a sort of solution but it involves doing LISTEQs to
temporary files and then resolving the filenames etc manually by parsing
the file equation. I'm just sure that someone out there has a cleaner
solution <g>
