When running an e-mail client on a list with a weird Reply-To:, try doing a
"group reply" or "reply to all recipients". That will usually address your
reply back to the original poster *and* to the list.

Mark makes a helpful suggestion that goes a long way in solving a problem that I
have had in replying. However, I would add one additional step for Listserv, at
least. If I just reply to the HP3000-L, the message is addressed to
owner-hp3000-l@... and that will bounce. Some time back Jeff Kell explained to
me that this is a function of my post office and not the functioning of Listserv
software. I've had to resort to forwarding replies to the list address. With
Mark's suggestion, it's now easier to reply, but I will have to remember to
delete the owner-hp3000-l@... addressee. This is much smoother.

I do not believe that I have any lists here at work (that I would be replying
to) that are Majordomo, so I cannot test this method "purely" as Mark suggests
for Majordomo. The PowerHouse list, now on Listserv is about to come to an end
at the current site, but it has been picked up by a site that will run it on
Majordomo -- so perhaps then I'll have a chance to test Marks's suggestion.

Thanks, Mark.

In majordomo, the Reply-To: behavior is configurable, and can be set to
either the posting user, or the list address.

When running an e-mail client on a list with a weird Reply-To:, try doing
a "group reply" or "reply to all recipients". That will usually address
your reply back to the original poster *and* to the list.
