On HPUX, Java is free for downloading, but you are encouraged to pick it
up on your support contract. There is a charge for support. I'm not
(yet) sure how much. If you want to be able to call the RC and get the
software along with the other applications you have, then you must pay
for the support costs -> but the product is free.

On MPE, I think if enough of us start to use Java, CSY and the support
organzation will certainly want to offer official (paid for) support for
it. For the time being, enjoy the free ride.

Java is certainly a hit in Computer Science. Our program at Xavier and
others I've heard of are switching to teaching Java as the first
lanquage instead of Pascal. This will surely make object oriented
programming the norm down the road.
