Use some container application which does handle PRIV files. Some that
come to mind are UHAUL (the B.00.10 version supports PRIV files, others
may not), RoadRunner (using the NOPRIV keyword to make the VirtualTape
file non-priv) and probably others including LZW, MOVER, TAR and recent
versions of STORE. Of course, you will need the equivalent unpacking
software on the receiving end, but that should be able to be sent by
modem too, if they don't already have it.
