We have had problems on modem lines in the past. First use a quality modem,
not a low end model like sportster. Next, configure it at 9600 (19.2?) on
the DTC and turn off all responses and command prompts from the modem.
Most of the time we've had problems, it was the modems. I have been using
the USR Courier (up to V.Everything) and am glad of it.
Other than that, I think Randy Med could go into much more detail.

Subject: Re: Login HP3000 using modem
We had similar issues with some of our client base when I first
started at ASI. I ended up recableing the modem pool and
reconfiguring the modems so the HP-DTC port would control the line
speed and handshaking.
I'd be interested in others responses as well.
