This is partially correct. However, if concurrency control is needed a
locking mechanism must be used. Just posting buffers isn't sufficient,
since that doesn't protect applications from accessing the same record at
the same time. Also, even for a completely "clean" file, the unlock time
grows with the number of pages [...]37_3Dec199708:12:
