Okay, some more spice... the MPE/iX Posix Shell offers the OD utility.
Not as odd as it may sound ;-) the od stands for "octal dump" (but does
have a number of options, as usual...)
od myfile ... gives (o)ctal (d)ump
od -c myfile ... gives (c)har dump (with control chars in \xxx notation)
od -x myfile ... gives he(x) dump
As always, the OD.HPBIN.SYS can also be used from the CI, if preferred.
I sometimes SETVAR HPPATH HPPATH+",HPBIN.SYS" to get those utils easily.

PS: I guess I am using the FCOPY;HEX;CHAR more frequently, though :)
