For No. 1, once you're in AOL, press CTRL+K and then type "Mail Controls".
I've been using this feature for a year or so. Instructions on its use are
there on the control. It won't catch all of the spam, but it does help.

For No. 2, go to each of the search engines' web pages and look for some
instruction link that says something like "Add URL" and follow the
instructions. It takes a day to a week for your suggested URLs to get into
the various engines' databases.

On the other hand, plan B is don't do anything at all. The search engines
will eventually find you. This may take a month or so for your pages to get
into the search engines -- but it will happen.
