I would *very tenatively* predict the following:

* AUTOPAT will not be modified.
* AUTOINST and HPSINSTALL will not be modified anytime soon

Patch/iX is officially the patch installation tool of choice. The HP
R&D lab will fix problems with that tool as necessary. We would like
to see AUTOPAT go away. Integrating Stage/iX into AUTOINST and
HPINSTALL would have the benefit of making full OS releases stagable,
but has some signficiant technical hurdles to overcomes. Stage/iX
itself is capable of staging every file in a full OS release, but
there are many issues with I-files, submittal specs, products, etc.
