Howdy,

Several people have responded privately to my problem so I thought
I'd share.

Yes, before shutting down I had killed all jobs, sessions and the
network. I've been told that it looks like the file system is shutting
down before all processes have been killed.

The only thing I did not stop was the spoolers, and yes during shut-
down the 987 did mutter a bit about one particular spooler before
finally reporting it as stopped. At least it claims it stopped it.
Next time, if there is a next time, I'm gonna stop all the spoolers
before shutdown and see what that does.

Patches. AFAIK the 5.0 OS is patched to current as of about three
months ago. I was installing the patch to correct the DDX/EOF
problem this morning and probably will not install anymore as we
are s..l...o...w...l....y moving to a 9000. Kinda makes me jealous
when y'all get on about 5.5, 6.0 and such. Oh well. When it pulls
this partcular little prank it does not seem to harm anything but
my temper so I think I'll just leave it.

Also suggested was animal sacrifice. Ummm when the 987 pulls
this little trick at 3:15 am I'd like to sacrifice *it*.....to UNIX. Our
UNIX box shuts down real quick. Sometimes even shuts down
when we don't want it too.

FYI
