OK, for all the Netscape Communicator users... the Javelin thin client is
ready to demo...
You must be running Netscape Communicator 4.x with Netscape Signed Objects
support.
http://www.csillc.com/
and follow the links to Demos...
Also - the question was raised as to why Authenticode and Signed Objects
were used. The main reason is that this is a digital signature thereby
assuring the end-user that the package has not been tampered with by any
third party. The certificate was issued by Verisign.
The technology also enables Javelin to bypass the restriction in Java that
would otherwise prevent it from accessing hosts other than the one
downloading Javelin. In this case, the same host is downloading the package
to you - but in some instances, this may not be the case.
Hopefully, this clears up any questions you might have on digital
signatures.
Best Regards,
Joe
