Re: netrc file on 3000.

Yes, this capability exist, but the functionality is minmal.

If you build a NETRC.GROUP.ACCOUNT file, and you are logged into
the group you can get conected to the remote host, but are unble
to enter commands beyond the logon in the NETRC file.

My NETRC file:
machine s3106d71 login jph password mysecret
