Hi David,
Thanks for the specs... very informative... I have a fan in the doorway...
still running 76 degrees right now at the CPU... we have all internal drives...
all half-height 2 and 4 gig drives so??? the UPS is beeping about once ever
20-30 minutes tho??? this is not good :(

A Side Note: the internal temp on my APC UPS for the network fileserver which
I left up last night was 49 degrees CELSIUS! this morning when I came in...
usually it maintains a 28 degrees Celsius not good :(

Art hehehe Bahrs,

I had the same problem last year, except it was on a weekend. When I=

couldn't dial-in, I decided to come to work to see what was wrong. When=

I got here, the computer room was 120 degrees. The system (950) was
still running, but had performed a "high temp" shutdown. A few days
later, a 7937 disk drive belt disintegrated.

The "Recommended Operating Range" for the 950 is 66F to 86F, and the
"Operating Range" is 41F to 104F.

The "Operating Range" on the DTC-48 is 32F to 131F.

The "Recommended Operating Range" for a 7937 is 68F to 78F, and the
"Operating Range" is 32F to 131F.

Do you have any of the old disk drives with drive belts? If not, I
would shutdown as many devices as possible, and put a large fan in the
doorway. Watch the use of tapes in high temperatures. (Did I mention
that you should paint a beach on the walls and charge admission?)

On the bright side, I can now say I've finally gotten some use out of=

the "Environmental Requirements" section of my "System Specification".

                        Hope this helps,
                        David N. Lukenbill

Oh Wise and Learned Gurus of HP 3000 harware,
   =

What is the max sustained temperature that an HP 3000 series 957=

   (Nova Box)
with 2 DTC-48 can withstand safely???
   =

We lost the computer center Air Conditioner yesterday
   afternoon... at the
time I shut the system down at 5:05 pm it was 83 degrees in the
   center.... today
I expect it could get past 90 degrees?
   =

   Thanks all :)
